Are you a Ghouly Girl?

Be True to Yourself
Come on admit it...you have more of an edge than you let on.

Hidden under that pearl button cardi is a tattoo to remind you of just that.

Does your home reflect you, all of you. Subtle edgy accents can be a playful way to remind others (and yourself) that just because you have grannies cookie jar on display you aren't always sugar and spice.

One Great chair, Three points of view

One Great chair, Three points of view
Basics can be far from ,well, basic.
Invest in one or two pieces like a great chair and a sideboard or table.  Think of them as your homes equivalent to your favorite LBD - it can transition with little effort and cost with new accent pieces as your style evolves.
Take a classic tufted white chair that is inherently traditional. Pair with a modern chevron print, sleek white &wood table, and you instantly get a crisp modern appeal.
Or keep it traditional and sweet with just a hint of edginess. Why not accessorise with  a detail that is dainty in disguise...did you notice the skull amidst the bouquet on these playful cups?
For a more masculine motif. Use earthy industrial woods, a more substantial throw, and accessorise with a chic statement piece like this chic candle.
One chair, three looks. Which one is you?

Ghouls Night Out...

October, October let the Ghouls come over....

Ghouls just wanna have fun. What to do during this frightful month of goblins and gore? Get out of the house and go scare up some frightful stories for your future.  If you don't,Aunt Mildred might call again and ask if you're seeing "someone special" . That's more chilling than anything you will encounter for Halloween.

All frightful nights usually start with a cocktail...How bout a round of Bleeding Heart Martinis before be-heading out. Simply take a classic martini and garnish with a skewered red pickled beat and watch it bleed. Thanks Martha, you're the best.

Remember the first time you saw that CREEPY BA DEEPY clown and the blood red steak schlep itself across the big screen in Poltergeist? You just got chills didn't you.
Poltergeist is a classic, as far as scary movies go. This year, ramp up the fear factor with Cinespia and see it  in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on October 15.  Gulp.

Hitchcock-Tober at the Angelica Dallas is screening all the Hitchcock classics on the patio.
Psycho - October 27.

Turning an eye to gore...how bout a good ol'fashioned Pumpkin Carving . Or Not.
If you're not "all that" with a switchblade here's a tutorial.

Have a spooktactular night out and remember, any of these options should be less scary than your last round on Match.

MiCosina West Village
Yep, we all know and love Fall but this month also marks another note worthy season.
National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Unfortunately, most have been touched in some way by this disease. What have you done to help further research and save lives?
There are numerous walks, runs, and ways to donate!
Susan G.Komen has numerous 5K's and a 60 mile walk that is POWERFUL. Now, don't let the I cant's set in ...get your pink MoJo on and consider walking in 2012 if it's too late for you to walk in a city near you this year. You'll be making those resouloutions soon, get a jump start!

If walking isn't for you there is always the precious random act of kindness. Donate  to one of the 20,000 participants in this Saturdays Race for the Cure at North Park Center or a Three Day participant.

Do yourself and those that love you a favor and get those mammograms.
It's a lot less scary than the kitschy Haunted House someone is gonna' want to drag you to!
