California Dream'n

You know what sounds sublime? Waking up to a near perfect 80 degree day, greeted by crashing waves and a fresh mango smoothie. Bummer for me, my current zip code isn't 90210. From where I'm sitting, there is no beach in site, and the thermometer is reading a steady 100 plus here in Dallas.

Hitting Jamba Juice and adopting a casual So Cal style will be about as close as I can get for now to my sublime morning.

If I were to create a wardrobe and home to reflect my perfect day it would look something like this....
A mixture of whites mingled with earthy woods and a subtle injection of bling, creating an effortless "Free To Be" style.

California dream'n until we meet again Hermosa Beach.

You Spin me White Round...

Nothing can spin me back in time like music from the 80's. It instantly makes my now 42 year old self feel like a bouncy 24...wait that'd be the 90's, I really am getting old. I digress...
Hearing Madonna, a metal hair band, or Flock of Seagulls is like a magnetic pull to grab the nearest " hair brush mic" and give them all a run for their money.

This week and old friend from the 80's turned me on to a band that was a not so Quiet R-I-O-T.
The Molly Ringwalds , a Sheffield England cover band captured my love of all things 80's.  Costume clad and a serious 80's repertoire that will have you screaming "Oh my gosh, I love this song"  for two and a half hours of non stop nostalgia. No breaks , all 80's.

I could never compile a top 5 list , but here are a few FAVS from the 80's.
Lucky Star
Brass Monkey
Sweet Child O Mine
Just Can't Get Enough
Our Lips Are Sealed

Now go grab your Aussie Scrunch and get those bangs sky high people... it's FRIDAY!

Not Too Shabby...

All hail the queen...no not that one.
Rachel Ashwell , the reigning queen of Shabby Chic has crossed the pond and set up shop in lil' ol Round Top Texas!

The Prairie B+B looks as if it will not disappoint in any way. The storied interiors are marked with Rachel's signature (often imitated but unrivaled) vintage decor , marrying vintage wall papers and reclaimed woods with modern conveniences. The beds alone make me want to book my trip a.s.a.p. They look like vintage cotton candy clouds...dreamy.

I 'll be headed that direction in early Fall and can not wait to personally report back. Here are a few pictures for us all to "ooh and ahhh" over until we can  throw our bags in the trunk.
Nestled on 46 acres of prairie, it's the perfect retreat to feed the soul...remember to bring your tattered journal.
Multicolored wood slat ceilings and intricate tile...love the slung open shutters signifying a carefree retreat.

I have a feeling plenty of Tall Tales will be told from this grand kitchen table late at night.

                                                                      Ahhh, I told ya.

Cozy , I might not make it to breakfast.

Another beautiful room. I'm pretty sure that couch would suffice as a bed and keep me from counting sheep.

Look forward to seeing ya'll there!
